Firmware 10.2.1
Release channel: Latest
Release date: July 9, 2026
Firmware version 10.2.1 is a recommended security update for the UltiMaker Factor 4. It delivers next-generation cryptographic protections, automated credential masking, and vital system upgrades to secure your daily print workflows.
Note: Due to the security improvements, it is not possible to downgrade to any version below 10.2.1 after installing this version.
Improvements
- Firmware validation. Software updates are cryptographically verified on-device using a dual-layer signature validation system with secure Ed25519 signatures. Once installed, cryptographic validation permanently blocks downgrading to firmware releases below version 10.2.1.
- Log redaction. Wi-Fi passwords, local security PINs, and API credentials are automatically masked from log files and diagnostic exports.
- Web console security. The local web server uses Nginx headers to neutralize clickjacking attempts (CVE-2021-34087) and enforce strict browser resource loading. Dynamic inline script access in the Content Security Policy (CSP) was replaced with explicit SHA-256 hashes of authorized local tools, while local network camera streams remain operational.
- Update diagnostics. If a firmware upgrade issue occurs, the system automatically copies the SWUpdate execution history to an inserted USB flash drive to aid in diagnostics.
Bug fixes
- Wi-Fi QR provisioning. Control and newline characters are stripped from scanned network payloads to neutralize configuration injection exploits. Addressed retry connection failures by cleanly restarting the networking service and rolling back settings on setup timeouts.

Firmware 10.1.1
Release channel: Latest only
Release date: October 8, 2024
Firmware version 10.1.1 contains several bug fixes and material handling improvements. This version does not include critical safety updates, so it is only released to the Latest channel.
Improvements
- Extrusion detection. The measurement of extrusion values used for detecting under-extrusion, grinding, and other flow interruptions has been improved. This should reduce the occurrences of errors ER314 and ER65.
Bug fixes
- Z stage drop. Fixed two issues that could cause the build plate to drop down unexpectedly.
- Print process reporting. Improved the visualization of the of the process limits in print process reporting; the graphs were not always shown correctly.
- Printer process improvements. Implemented fixes for non-printing processes such as XY calibration, material loading and print core cleaning.
Firmware 10.1.0
Release channel: Stable and Latest
Release date: August 15, 2024
Firmware version 10.1.0 contains a few important updates and some bug fixes. The stability and reliability improvements are significant, which is why this version is released on both the Latest and Stable channels.
Note: After updating to 10.1.0, it is not possible to downgrade the firmware to 10.0.2 or earlier via the regular user interface. PleaseĀ contact UltiMaker support if downgrading is absolutely required, but note that this is not normally supported.
Improvements
- Any color support. Combined with UltiMaker Cura 5.9, this firmware enables you to print with any UltiMaker color loaded in the Material Station that is compatible with the print job. Instead of slicing for a particular color, select the "Any color" option from the material list in Cura. This feature is only available for printers compatible with the Material Station.
- Print core cleaning. The process for cleaning the print cores on Factor 4 is improved with automated hot and cold pulls.
- ER300. In some cases, the Air Manager error ER300 would occur during printing, even though all fans were functional. This has now been fixed.
- ER314. This error message indicates an extrusion problem with PVA in the BB core. This aborts the print to prevent damage to the print head. Aborting now only happens when the BB core is in slot 2 of the print head. If the print core is in slot 1 (as recommended), the print will only be paused in case of extrusion problems.
- TPU 95A. This version improves the reliability of loading TPU 95A.
- Heating. The speed and accuracy of heating the nozzles and build plate is increased.
- Developer mode. Enabling developer mode will generate a new random password for SSH.
- Reset network settings. All network settings can be reset to help resolve Wi-Fi hotspot issues.
Firmware 10.0.2
Release channel: Latest and Stable
Release date: June 26, 2024
Firmware version 10.0.2 is a stability and reliability release for Factor 4. This version contains a few important improvements:
- i2C communication. Improved the robustness of the communication to the fans and power electronics, reducing occurrences of ER300 and ER313.
- Under-extrusion detection. Improved the accuracy of unde-extrusion detection for PVA, reducing the chance of ER314 occurrences.
Firmware 10.0.1
Release channel: Latest and Stable
Release date: May 28, 2024
Firmware version 10.0.1 is the first improvement release after the launch of the UltiMaker Factor 4. This version contains several improvements:
- Under-extrusion detection. Improved the accuracy of under-extrusion detection in the Factor 4 print head and enabled it earlier.
- Soluble material error handling. A new dedicated error message (ER314) was added for detecting extrusion problems specifically with soluble materials. This error will abort the print to prevent possible damage to the machine.
- Various improvements. A number of various small bug fixes and improvement was implemented, such as fixes for typos, logging, and certain procedures.
Firmware 10.0.0
Release channel: Latest and Stable
Release date: April 22, 2024
Firmware 10.0.0 is the first public release for the new UltiMaker Factor 4. This firmware version offers full support for the Factor 4 and introduces features such as:
- Calibrations. Improve the accuracy and reliability of Factor 4 with new calibration procedures such as gantry offset and purge location.
- In-depth diagnostics. In the printer's menu, find diagnostics for all the printer's fans, temperature sensors, and detection switches for fast and easy troubleshooting.
- Component tracking and control. Factor 4 contains closed-loop fan control and error monitoring for all fans and odometers for tracking the movement of the gantry, bed, and extruders.
- PPS-CF support. The UltiMaker Factor 4 supports the new next-level composite PPS CF material and the HT print core.
- Print process reporting. Simplify part validation and quality control with Print Process Reporting, a premium feature for Factor 4.
- Heated build chamber. Ensure optimal processing conditions and consistent part quality. The build chamber is pre-heated before starting and resuming a print job according to the material-specific settings.
- Open door detection. Factor 4 contains an open-door detection sensor. With this user-configurable option, the print job will automatically pause when the door is opened to maintain optimal temperature control and part quality.
- Filter check. The large HEPA filter at the top of the printer removes up to 95% of UFPs from the printing process. Factor 4 contains a user-configurable filter presence check before starting a print.
- Restart printer. On Factor 4, it is possible to quickly and simply restart the printer from the Settings menu, limiting the need to access the power switch at the back of the printer.
