This page contains all the firmware release notes for the UltiMaker S6 and S8. You can install the most recent firmware on the Latest or Stable channel via the network, or download the firmware file to update via USB.
Note: These release notes and the listed firmware versions are not for the older S series printers (S3, S5, and S7). Please visit this page instead.
Below, the release notes for the most recent Stable and Latest versions are shown. For older versions, check the archive dropdowns.
Firmware 11.2.4
Release channel: Latest
Release date: August 18, 2026
This version includes behind-the-scenes support for updated hardware components used in UltiMaker production. It contains no functional changes, bug fixes, or new features for existing printers. Your printing experience and workflow remain unchanged.
Firmware 11.1.0
Release channel: Stable
Release date: May 19, 2025
Firmware 11.1.0 is the first public release for the UltiMaker S6; it is the minimum version that supports this printer model.
This version includes reliability improvements and bug fixes for the UltiMaker S8.
Improvements
- S6 support. This firmware includes support for both variants (glass build plate and flexible build plate) of the UltiMaker S6 printer.
- Boot up time. The time it takes for the printer to fully boot up is reduced by 50%.
- Any color materials. The 'any color' material profiles previously showed as "[Material] Generic" (for example "PLA Generic"), which is confusing, as there are also Generic material profiles. These have now been renamed to "UltiMaker [Material] (for example "UltiMaker PLA").
- Pressure advance. With this firmware, the pressure advance algorithm is only enabled during printing and disabled for any non-printing moves. This includes nozzle switching, material changes (during the print), and the end of print sequence. This improves the quality and stability of the prime tower.
- Print core cleaning. Removed the (unreliable) option to use PLA for the print core cleaning process. The high-speed print cores (AA+ and CC+) cannot be cleaned with PLA because the material tip will break in the nozzle. Use cleaning filament for reliable results.
- Connection reliability. Made some changes that improved the reliability of the printer's connection with Cura and Digital Factory.
Bug fixes
- Delayed extrusion. Fixed a bug that caused delayed extrusion on the left print core (1) when the printer is used in combination with a Material Station.
- Air Manager fan. If the Air Manager fan was unable to reach the desired speed, the error (ER86) was not triggered correctly. This has now been fixed.
- Extrusion errors. With certain geometries, the printer could often show extrusion error messages (ER65). This was a false positive and has now been fixed.
Older versions
Firmware 11.2.2
Release channel: Latest
Release date: July 9, 2026
Firmware version 11.2.2 is a recommended security and connectivity update for UltiMaker S6 and S8 printers. This firmware is engineered to keep your hardware investments perfectly protected, private, and securely connected to modern enterprise network infrastructure.
Note: Due to the security improvements, it is not possible to downgrade to any version below 11.2.2 after installing this version.
Improvements
- Firmware validation. Software updates are cryptographically verified on-device using a dual-layer signature validation system with Ed25519 signatures. Built-in downgrade protection permanently blocks attempts to install firmware below version 11.2.2.
- Log redaction. Wi-Fi passwords, local security PINs, and API credentials are automatically masked from log files and diagnostic exports.
- Web console security. The local web server includes Nginx headers to neutralize clickjacking attempts (CVE-2021-34087) and enforce strict browser resource loading. The Content Security Policy (CSP) replaced dynamic inline script access with explicit SHA-256 hashes of authorized local tools, while keeping camera monitoring streams fully operational.
- Update diagnostics. In the event of a firmware upgrade issue, the system automatically copies the SWUpdate execution history directly to an inserted USB flash drive.
Bug fixes
- Wi-Fi QR provisioning. Control and newline characters are stripped from scanned network payloads to neutralize configuration injection exploits. Resolved previous retry connection failures by cleanly restarting the networking service and rolling back settings on setup timeouts.
Firmware 11.2.1
Release channel: Latest
Release date: May 13, 2026
This is a patch release for UltiMaker S6 and S8 printers on the Latest channel. It resolves a known issue from the 11.2 release that caused loading problems with the Material Station. The printer's feeder would sometimes fail to respond correctly during material pickup, preventing the filament from reaching the print head. This has now been fixed.
Firmware 11.2.0
Release channel: Latest
Release date: February 9, 2026
This firmware brings a big distribution upgrade with enhanced security. Also included are several experience improvements and better error handling.
- Introduced user-friendly Wi-Fi setup using QR codes.
- Improved API security & data handling.
- Upgraded distribution from Debian Buster to Debian Bookworm.
- Improved error handling and messaging.
- Improved user flows in various wizards.
Note: This firmware has several known issues, please see below. The loading problems have been resolved in patch release 11.2.1 (release notes above).
Known issues
- Installation. We received some reports about firmware update stalling. It can take quite some time for the firmware installation to complete, especially if the printer has a connected Material Station. Allow up to 20 minutes, but if the printer is stuck on the logo for longer, power cycle the machine. Turn off the printer, wait at least 10 seconds, and turn the printer on again. It is recommended to check in the printer menu that the new version has installed correctly.
- Material loading on Pro Bundles. If the UltiMaker S6 or S8 is used with a Material Station, the feeder may sometimes not respond correctly during the material loading process. This can lead to the filament getting stuck in the Bowden tube slightly above the feeder and ER56. (This has been resolved in 11.2.1)
- Limit switch diagnostics. The diagnostic feature for checking the X, Y, and Z limit switches does not correctly show the state of the switches. If the switches are activated, this menu should show 'Pressed', but this currently does not work. This menu is found under Options (gear icon) → Maintenance → Diagnostics → Test homing switches.
Firmware 11.0.1
Release channel: Stable and Latest
Release date: March 19, 2025
Note: This firmware is only supported on the UltiMaker S8.
- Removed compatibility of PLA with CC+ print cores. Use AA+ with PLA for optimal speed and quality.
Firmware 11.0.0
Release channel: Stable and Latest
Release date: March 13, 2025
Note: This firmware is only supported on the UltiMaker S8.
