The UltiMaker 2+ Connect features printing via USB, and cloud printing. When you have connected the UltiMaker 2+ Connect to the internet, it is advised to connect it to your Digital Factory account straight away. This way, you will be able to remotely start print jobs from UltiMaker Cura from any device. Simply log in to Cura to load your personal account settings and associated printers, including the UltiMaker 2+ Connect.
Cloud printing with the UltiMaker 2+ Connect
Cloud printing is the only form of network printing available for the UltiMaker 2+ Connect. To begin, first go to digitalfactory.ultimaker.com and add your printer to your account. You will need to have created an UltiMaker Account in order to do this.
With your printer associated with your personal Digital Factory, open UltiMaker Cura and sign in with your UltiMaker Account. Cura will alert you of any printers connected to your Digital Factory, and you can easily select the printer.
Note: UltiMaker Cura will not be able to detect an UltiMaker 2+ Connect that is connected to the same local network. It can only detect cloud-connected UltiMaker 2+ Connect printers. If the required pin for Digital Factory does not show up, make sure your connection is working or perform a reboot or factory reset on your printer.
After loading and preparing your 3D model, select the Print via Cloud button to send the print job remotely to your UltiMaker 2+ Connect. Ensure that the configuration of the printer (material and nozzle) matches the settings in Cura. You can also select Save to Library to store the project in your Digital Library project to print it later or collaborate with team members.
Note: The UltiMaker 2+ Connect does not support all Digital Factory features. You cannot queue prints, and you must ensure the printer is ready to accept a new print job (idle state) before submitting one via Cura.
USB printing with the UltiMaker 2+ Connect
The UltiMaker 2+ Connect can print using an offline workflow using a USB drive. In UltiMaker Cura, you can add the UltiMaker 2+ Connect manually from the list of non-networked printers.
Select the correct configuration (material and nozzle size), load your model, and prepare it for printing with your preferred settings. When you are done, select Save to USB to store it directly to a connected USB drive, or Save to file to store it on your computer for later.
Insert the USB drive into the port at the front of the UltiMaker 2+ Connect and use the touchscreen to select and start the print job.
Materials for the UltiMaker 2+ Connect
The UltiMaker 2+ Connect is compatible with all non-abrasive, 2.85 mm UltiMaker build materials. That means that from the UltiMaker 2.85 mm material portfolio, the UltiMaker 2+ Connect cannot be used with PVA, Breakaway, and PET CF. For all other materials, tested and verified print profiles are included in UltiMaker Cura. These materials can also be selected in the UltiMaker 2+ Connect menu when loading or changing materials.
The UltiMaker 2+ Connect also supports printing with third-party materials. On the UltiMaker Marketplace, select the UltiMaker 2+ Connect as the printer type to see exactly which material profiles are available for this machine. You can also create a custom material profile in UltiMaker Cura.
