This article explains what a Digital Factory Workspace is and its role as the central hub for your 3D printing ecosystem.
In this article, you will learn:
- What is a Digital Factory Workspace?
- How subscriptions affect your Workspace
What is a Digital Factory Workspace?
A Workspace is your central environment in the UltiMaker Digital Factory. Its primary purpose is to enable the core 3D printing workflow of turning a digital model into a physical part, right in your browser!
Every UltiMaker account and free workspace includes:
- Prepare: Using Cura Cloud (located in the “Prepare” section), you can prepare, slice, and send your files directly to your Workspace's shared library.
The Library is a centralized repository for your printable parts that connects directly to Cura. - Print: From the Digital Factory interface, you can select any file from your library and send it to any cloud-connected UltiMaker printer.
- Monitor: Once a job is printing, you can monitor its progress in real-time, manage the print queue, and view your printer's status from anywhere.
- Library: Store and manage 3D models and print files. Allow users outside your workspace to submit files via submission links.
What are the benefits of upgrading your Workspace?
Upgrading to a Workspace provides a more powerful and collaborative 3D printing experience.
Unlock features focused on team productivity and administrative control:
- Centralized Collaboration: Easily share printers and projects with other users. All members of the Workspace can access shared resources, which helps to streamline your team's print queue and workflow.
- Expanded Library: Move from a limited number of projects to a much larger or unlimited number of projects, allowing your workspace to build an extensive and robust repository of shared parts.
- User and Role Management: Increase the number of users who can be members of your workspace and assign specific roles to manage permissions and access rights.
Premium tiers also introduce Teams, allowing you to organize users and printers. - Powerful Management: Manage a larger fleet of printers from a single account. Higher tiers also add critical administrative tools like comprehensive usage reporting, bulk user import, and Single Sign-On (SSO) for streamlined and secure access.
By consolidating users, printers, and projects into a single environment, a Workspace makes it easier to manage your entire 3D printing workflow from start to finish.
