The UltiMaker S5 was first released in 2018. This printer featured a larger build volume, sleek glass doors, and an intuitive touchscreen display. This model was the first in the UltiMaker S series.
In 2020, UltiMaker introduced a new version of the UltiMaker S5. This new version (S5 'R2') fully replaced the older model (S5 'R1'). Learn more about the versions here:

Product Discontinuance Notice
The UltiMaker S5R1 was officially discontinued in 2022. UltiMaker offered an additional service period of one year, until October 1, 2023. Due to supply chain reasons, the service period could not be extended further.
Note: This product discontinuance notice only applies to the 2018-2020 model, or UltiMaker S5 'R1'. The UltiMaker S5 'R2' (2020 onwards model) is still supported.
Between the Product Discontinuance date and End of Service date, the following services were provided:
- Support. Customer Service will answer questions and help with troubleshooting.
- Service parts. Spare parts for maintenance and repairs are available while supplies last.
- Software. New software features and updates are not guaranteed, but bug fixes, patches, and workarounds could be provided.
End of Service Notification
The service period for the UltiMaker S5R1 ended on October 1, 2023. This means that this model of the UltiMaker S series is no longer produced, sold, or supported.

All support articles for the UltiMaker S5R1 remain online. The functionality of the machine is largely the same as the UltiMaker S5R2 and other S series printers, which are still supported. Notes have been added to articles that refer specifically to the UltiMaker S5R1 model or parts thereof.

The availability of service parts is not guaranteed. This particularly applies to any spare parts that are uniquely compatible with the discontinued product. Parts can only be offered as long as they are in stock. Alternatives might be offered, if available / possible.

Technical support and assistance from the UltiMaker Customer Service team or local service resellers are not guaranteed. You can still contact us, but take into account that the End of Service date has passed. Based on parts and resources, we may not be able to offer a solution.

Software
|
Due to the similarity with other S series printers, new firmware versions may still be released for the UltiMaker S5R1. However, due to the different electronics and potential future incompatibilities, this is not guaranteed to continue. UltiMaker also cannot guarantee the compatibility of this discontinued product with future software versions.
