PRODUCT END OF LIFE POLICY AND PROCESS

Products reach “End of Life” due to reasons such as changes in market demand, availability of parts, or being replaced by newer products. This document describes the Product End Of Life Policy and Process for UltiMaker and MakerBot brand products, including hardware (the physical product and its components), firmware  (software embedded in the hardware that controls its functionality), and software (applications and cloud services). The intent of this process is to assist customers with planning their parts inventory and to communicate the remaining service, support, and update options for products nearing the end of their availability and support.

The process consists of three steps:

1. End of Product Sales (“Product EOS”):

For hardware products, the Product EOS date is the date after which the hardware product is no longer manufactured and sales are while supplies last. This may also include the date after which the hardware product is no longer available for purchase. Replacement parts, spares and consumables will continue to be available for sale after the Product EOS date for a period lasting, at least until the Product EOSSL date. In some cases, availability may extend beyond the Product EOSSL date, depending on inventory and other factors.

For software products, the Product EOS is the date after which no new subscriptions or renewals will be accepted. Customers can continue using the software until the end of their current subscription period. 

2. End of Product Service and Support (“Product EOSSL”):

The Product EOSSL date is the date on which general service and support for the product will no longer be offered by UltiMaker. Although every effort will be made to service hardware products as long as feasible, Product EOSSL may be required due to the unavailability of replacement parts or other factors. Firmware updates and development of new features may also stop at this point. The Product EOSSL will not affect hardware service protection plans (e.g., UltiMakerCare) or limited warranty still in effect as of the Product EOSSL date. 

3. End of Software Support (“Software EOSL”):

For hardware products, the Software EOSL date is the date on which the product may no longer be updated in new releases of UltiMaker or MakerBot software. This means that new software features and enhancements may not be compatible with the hardware after this date. Firmware updates specific to the hardware may also cease at this point. 

For software products, the Software EOSL date is when the software will no longer receive updates, including new releases and bug fixes.
