Often, the log files of a printer can contain valuable information to help troubleshoot and diagnose what went wrong within a printer. You may be asked by a support representative for log files of your machine.
Note, please follow these steps exactly:
Export the log files to your USB stick
On your computer, select all files that have been exported to the USB, that are not .gcode, .3mf or .stl files. (These are multiple files; .log, .log.gz, .tar.gz)
ZIP the files and share the ZIP file with Ultimaker support
How to export log files to USB
Ultimaker S5 and S3
From the Preferences overview, go to Maintenance, Diagnostics, then select Save log files to USB
Tip: When an error has occurred on the printer while a USB stick is inserted, the log files are automatically saved to the USB drive. Please check the USB files first. Log files starting with "ultimakersystem-" are some of the most important ones.
Ultimaker 3
On the display, navigate to: System, Maintenance, Diagnostics, then select Dump logs to USB
Ultimaker 2+ Connect
Select the Maintenance icon, scroll down to Diagnostics, and press Export log files
