When turning on your Ultimaker 2 Go, you will always see the Ultimaker logo first. When the printer has finished booting up, you will see the main menu. The main menu offers three options: Print, Material, and Maintenance.
Tip: When you power on the printer for the first time, or after a factory reset, you will first go through the welcome setup. After this is completed, you will see the main menu when you power on the printer.
Rotate the controller button to scroll through the menu items, and press the button to select.
From the Print menu, you can start a print job. When an SD card is inserted into the front of the Ultimaker 2 Go, you can scroll through the list of prepared print files. Make sure that the file you choose was prepared for the correct machine type in Ultimaker Cura.
When you select one of the files, the Ultimaker 2 Go will start preparing the print job.
Note: If no SD card is present when you open the Print menu, the display will show No SD-CARD! Please insert card.
The Material menu contains two submenus:
You can change the spool of material that is installed on the printer. If you want to switch to a different material or a different color, select this option. The printer will guide you through the process. More information about changing material spools is found on this page.
In this menu, you can manually select a different material profile. You can also change the material-specific settings such as temperature and fan speed when selecting Customize. Customizing material settings can also be done on your computer. Import or export these profiles via the SD card.
The Maintenance menu contains two submenus:
This will guide you through the bed leveling process for the Ultimaker 2 Go. You can level the build plate if your prints are not properly adhering. Follow the instructions on the display, or visit this page for more information.
This menu contains several options for tweaking your printer settings. The following items are included:
|LED settings||Increase or decrease the brightness of the LEDs inside the printer.|
|Heat up nozzle||Manually set the nozzle temperature, for example for maintenance actions.|
|Home head||This will instruct the print head to move to the home position in the back corner.|
|Lower build plate||This will send the build plate down until it hits the Z limit switch.|
|Raise build plate||This will lift up the build plate to just below the nozzle.|
|Insert material||Load a new spool of material, if no material is currently installed on the printer.|
|Move material||Move the material backward and forward by rotating the controller button.|
|Set fan speed||Manually set the speed of the side fans.|
|Retraction settings||Change the retraction length and speed.|
|Motion settings||Here, you can change the speed, acceleration, and jerk settings, as well as the individual motor current.|
|Version||This shows the firmware version of the Ultimaker 2 Go|
|Runtime stats||This shows how long the printer has been on, how long it has printed, and how much material was used.|
|Factory reset||This will reset the printer back to factory settings. After doing this, you will be guided through the welcome setup again.|
The Ultimaker 2 Go also offers you the possibility to fine-tune settings during a print. This allows you to get full control over the printing process and helps you achieve the best print results. During a print, access the Tune menu.
From here, you can change settings such as temperature and speed. You can also pause the print. This allows you to change material, for example, if your spool is running low. After this, select Resume to continue the printing process.
