Installing the flexible build plate can be done in a few simple steps.

Before unpacking the flexible build plate, wash your hands. The surface of the flexible build plate can be affected by oils and grease from your hands while handling the plate and reduce the adhesive properties. Fingerprints will be very visible on the plate’s surface and can even show on the bottom surface of printed objects.

Tip: You can prepare the flexible build plate with a spray such as 3DLac to protect the surface. This will extend the lifetime of the flexible build plate, prevent issues with fingerprints, and improve the adhesion of printed objects on older, intensively used flexible build plates. Always do this with the build plate removed from the Z stage; never spray inside the printer.


Installation instructions

  1. Take the flexible build plate out of the packaging.
  2. Open the glass door(s) of the printer.
  3. Hold the build plate at the tabs at the front.

Tip: Either side of the flexible build plate can be used for printing. Always ensure that both sides are clean before installing the flexible build plate.

  1. Align the back of the flexible build plate with the pins at the back of the base plate.
  2. Lower the flexible build plate so it snaps into place.

The flexible build plate must be placed fully against the print table back cover so that it activates the build plate detection sensor. If the plate is too far towards the front, the printer will not recognize it. Always ensure the plate is aligned with the pins in the base plate.

Note: Only hold the flexible build plate at the tabs at the front. Keep fingers away from underneath the contact surface of the plate during installation to prevent getting stuck between the base plate and build plate.
