4. Post processing of Ultrafuse® 17-4 PH

Post processing green part

Immediately after 3D printing, your green part can be post processed similarly to post processing of other polymers, such as sanding, drilling, milling, sandblasting etc. As with any manufacturing process, personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and gloves is required.

After you obtain your metal part from your D&S services, the following post processing can be applied.

Support removal

When the Ultrafuse® Support Layer was used in the 3D print, this forms a kind of sand/dust intermediate between the support and metal object and will come off easily from the metal part. Removing the metal support will however require some tooling, such as pliers, and time that it takes to remove the support will depend on the location and extend of the metal support.

Post processing metal part

Ultrafuse® 17-4 PH can be further post processed to create high quality stainless steel objects. A commonly used method is bead blasting of the metal part.
