Using the Ultimaker 3D printing Academy

The Ultimaker 3D Printing Academy is Ultimaker's e-learning platform. This platform gives learners access a wide variety of courses for everyone from novice to expert. The courses range from basics of fused filament fabrication (FFF) and Ultimaker product trainings to learning plans for IT admins and application engineers. You will then be able to access the Ultimaker 3D Printing Academy via academy.ultimaker.com.

How do I access the Academy?

You can access the Academy with your Ultimaker account. To log in, either go to academy.ultimaker.com or use the app switcher in top right corner on the Ultimaker website.

What kind of content do I get?

This depends on your subscription level. We currently offer three different Essentials subscriptions packages- light, standard and advanced. Light only has access to the IT Admin Essentials learning plan, Standard has access to all associate level courses and Advanced to all associate and professional content.

When you register your Ultimaker printer at https://ultimaker.com/register-your-printer you'll get access to a printer-specific onboarding course.

Do I need to take the exam?

No, you don't need take an exam if you don't want to. But you'll earn a certificate if you pass. 

What happens when I fail an exam?

You have three attempts, afterwards the exam is locked. In this case, please open a support ticket if you want to retry. 

Will I have unlimited access to the courses?

As an Essentials customer you will have access to the courses included in your subscription package until your subscription is cancelled.

Exams cannot be retaken after passing them. 

Access to any of the printer-specific courses is not time-limited if you unlocked those. However, we reserve the right to remove or revise course content at any time.

I’m a manager, can I get information about my employees’ progress in the academy?

No, this functionality is not available. We suggest asking your employees to complete the exam and show the certificate to you. 

Can we host the Ultimaker e-learning content on our own platform or connect the Ultimaker e-learning platform to our system?

No, this is not possible.

When my subscription ends, what happens to my courses?

Your courses will be locked when your subscription ends, meaning that you will not be able to access them but your progress will be saved, and you would be able to continue if you decided to re-subscribe. 

I received a link to a free course, what do I do now?

Click on the link to enroll to the course. You'll need to create an Ultimaker account if you don't have one already/ Please note that in some browsers (Firefox) you might not be forwarded immediately to the course after logging in. If you land on account.ultimaker.com instead of academy.ultimaker.com, please open the link you received again. 

I have a question about the content, who should I contact?

If something is unclear to you, please connect with the experts from the Ultimaker community at https://community.ultimaker.com/

If you have technical issues, e.g. the course player is not working, please raise a support ticket.

I think I'm not seeing the right content on the platform, what should I do?

If you are an Essentials subscriber, please check with your admin if you've been added to an organization. 

As an admin, please check your subscription portal if you are still an Essentials user and raise a support ticket if the information there differs from what you expect.
