The Ultimaker 2 and Ultimaker 2 Extended come in reusable, durable packaging that has been specially designed to protect your printer in transport. Unboxing the Ultimaker 2 or Ultimaker 2 Extended can be done in a few simple steps.
Tip: We recommend removing the packaging with the box placed on the floor for safety. Please retain all packaging for warranty purposes.
Tip: The official Ultimaker unboxing video for the Ultimaker 2+ is available on YouTube. Although this is a slightly different printer model, the unboxing steps are the same.
First open up the outer cardboard box in which the Ultimaker 2 was delivered. Cut the cardboard flaps at the top and open them up.
Next, lift the printer out of the cardboard box. Firmly pull at the belt while keeping the box down.
Loosen the belt that is placed around the foam pieces. You can now remove the accessory box from the top of the printer. This contains the quick start guide and the printer accessories.
Take the spool of PLA material and the test print out of the front foam piece and place them aside. Next, remove both the front and back foam pieces from around the printer.
Lift the Ultimaker 2 off the bottom foam piece and place it on a flat and stable surface. Make sure to hold and lift the Ultimaker 2 at the side panels. Never lift the printer from its belts or axles, as this may damage the printer.
Underneath the build plate is some protective material. Manually lift up the build plate to remove it.
Cut the cable tie that secures the print head in place. Do not turn on the printer before removing it, as this will lead to error messages.
The Ultimaker 2 is now properly unpacked and almost ready for use!
