Article Details

UltiMaker Nylon CF Slide is a great alternative to POM (polyoxymethylene) when used in e.g. complex shaped parts in machinery or production lines. Its high wear resistance and low friction results in great replacement parts with long lifespan that can withstand motion under high pressure and velocity. Below is a summary of the many characteristics where Nylon CF Slide serves as a good replacement. Specific data on the wear resistance and friction coefficient of Nylon CF Slide against steel and stainless steel can be found here

Wear resistance

Exceptional

Very good, >48h against stainless steel at high pv (pressure velocity)

Surface finish

Smooth, mostly white

Textured, black (smoother after post processing)

Chemical resistance

Excellent

Very good against industrial solvents and oils (lower against acids and oxidizing agents)

Nylon CF Slide can also be post processed in the same way as POM, for example using the following CNC settings:

material = POM
milling bit = Carbide 2-Flute End Mills 6mm
rpm = 15000
feed rate = 400 mm/min (6.6 mm/s)
plunge rate = 90 mm/min (1.5 mm/s)
cut depth = 2 mm
